Launch of the regional project Displaced Talent for Europe (DT4E)
The launch of the regional project Displaced Talent for Europe, also known as DT4E took place at the Auditorium of the High Commissioner for Migration (ACM) in Lisbon, on the 2nd of November.
DT4E is a three-year EU-funded pilot project driven by a coalition of agencies to match displaced talent in Jordan and Lebanon with employers in Portugal, Belgium, Ireland and the UK. The objective is to strengthen labor mobility schemes, responding to employers' needs by using talents with international protection needs.
In Portugal, the International Organization for Migration (IOM), ACM, Talent Beyond Boundaries (TBB) and Fragomen are partners in the implementation of the project. These partners aim to lay the foundations for the operationalization of complementary admission routes that will allow people in need of international protection, together with their families, to integrate themselves in a sustainable way in the labor market and in the country. The priority economic activity sector in Portugal will be the information technology.
The event had a very diverse group of 60 participants, including representatives of Government Institutions such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Labour, Solidarity and Social Security, representatives of Public Administration Institutions such as the Institute for Employment and Vocational Training and the General Directorate of Education, representatives of the security forces, representatives of local governments, international organizations, civil society organizations, in particular immigrant and refugee associations, academia and companies.
With the launch of the project, coordination work begins between all these actors to achieve its goals hoping that this initiative can transform lives and contribute to the development of the country.
