IOM, in partnership with the High Commission for Migration, conducted two training and presentation Workshops of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for ACM’s Emergency Teams, on the 19th and 21st of September 2023.
The first workshop took place at the National Support Centre for the Integration of Migrants (CNAIM) in Lisbon and the second one online, counting a total of 60 participants, all ACM employees involved in the emergency response in Portugal.
The SOPs and the Workshops were produced in the framework of IOM’s project "Portugal: enhancing migrant integration services", with the aim of strengthening ACM's capacity to respond to migrant integration needs, particularly the challenges posed by social and humanitarian emergencies on the ground.
With a strong collaborative component, this project seeks to promote full ownership of its results and final products with the beneficiary, in all its phases and main activities Both the SOPs, elaborated between January and September 2023, and the training and presentation Workshops, were drawn up through regular consultative methods with ACM’s focal points and members of the Emergency Teams.
The SOPs are intended to serve as a comprehensive reference tool for these specialised teams, facilitating the day-to-day management of emergency responses and their staff across the country. Good practices have been standardised, both internally and at the European level, and coordination and articulation mechanisms have been strengthened in the preparation, activation and monitoring of emergency situations.
This project is funded by the European Union through the Technical Support Instrument and implemented by IOM Portugal in co-operation with the European Commission.
